Compare tonnage before price: Eagle Dumpster Rental's 30-yard includes only 2 tons where Ultimate includes 3, and its 15-yard includes 1 ton against Ultimate's 1.5. Overage runs from Angi's $60–$100/ton survey range up to Ultimate's $175/ton — ask your actual hauler which rate applies. Rowhouse blocks (South Philly, Fishtown, Point Breeze) usually need the curb spot reserved with your own cars or cones before the truck arrives. Your exact quote depends on debris type, how long you keep the bin, and how far the truck drives.
Weight overages. Go over the included tonnage and most haulers charge roughly $50–$100 per extra ton. Heavy debris (concrete, dirt, shingles) hits the limit fast — that's what the smaller 10-yard "heavy debris" bins exist for.
Extra days. The standard rental is 7 days. Extra days typically run $10–$25 per day, or a flat fee per week. Ask before you book, not after.
Debris type. Clean construction debris is cheapest. Mixed household junk is mid-range. Tires, mattresses, appliances with refrigerant, paint and anything hazardous cost extra or are refused outright.
Driveway or private lot: no Streets Department permit for a temporary roll-off. On a street or sidewalk there are two layers. Layer 1, the placement permit: a Right-of-Way permit from the Department of Streets — the official fee table prices a dumpster-only closure at $40 per dumpster per week; apply at least 10 business days ahead, and keep the container 20 feet from intersections. Layer 2, the hauler's license: anyone leasing construction dumpsters must hold an L&I Construction Dumpster License ($75 per 3 dumpsters, renewed annually, RFID medallion on every container) — that's the hauler's, and a homeowner cannot pull it, so verify your hauler is licensed. Don't confuse either with the permanent Private/Public Dumpster Licenses on the same city pages — those don't apply to a temporary rental.
Book the size you're sure about, not the size you hope for — one 20-yard bin is cheaper than two 10-yard swaps. Keep the rental inside 7 days. Load heavy material evenly and don't fill past the rim; an overloaded bin gets refused and you pay a trip fee anyway. If your project is flexible, ask about weekday delivery pricing — some haulers discount off-peak drops.
